If you know me you know that I love music. I really enjoy acoustic singer/songwriter type music. A perfect day for me is going to a coffee house, put on my ear phones with someone like Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, playing. There is this new guy that I have found. I recognized one of his songs from somewhere but I have no clue where from. His name is Brett Dennen. He sounds similar to Paulo Nutini. There is defiantly a similar sound all through his music but I personally enjoy that. I like when someone has there own sound. Something that is missing in music today, individuality. Everyone is trying to be unique but they really just sound like everyone else. I also like that his lyrics have a purpose. Wether he is telling a story of talking something he believes in. I may not agree with some of his stance on issues he sings about but I can appreciate his cleverness in how he writes. Some lyrics you can easily intrepid in many different ways. "Preachers on the podium speaking of saints, Prophets on the sidewalk begging for change". hmmmm... interesting.
Another new albam I got today is Switchfoots new one. Haven't listened to it yet but heard it was good. Been told it's leans more toward Jon Formans (the lead singer) solo stuff with a bit of rock behind in instead of acoustic guitar.

that's what i love about dave matthews - his lyrics all have meaning, whether or not i agree with his position on the issues.
let me know about switchfoot - they've always seemed overrated to me, so i never actually took the time to REALLY listen...let me know.
